What AI Beacon actually reports

The engine reached for your pricing page to answer this question, could not read it, fell back to a review site, and named a competitor from it. Your ranking never moved, which is exactly why nobody noticed for six months.

One finding, built from four sources that each looked harmless on their own. Twelve URLs to unblock, one page to rewrite against the question, and a re-crawl to confirm it. That is the work for the week.

The system

Eight signals, four jobs, one picture.

AI Beacon is the intelligence layer for how AI discovers, evaluates and recommends your brand. Each capability answers a different question, and they run in this order for a reason.

01 · ESTABLISH

Who does AI think you are?

Before anything can be measured, a model has to resolve your name to one real company, and you have to know the questions worth tracking.

Entity mapping Prompt coverage
02 · MEASURE

What does AI actually say?

Presence, wording and position, recorded per question and per engine, run after run, so a change is a change rather than a different afternoon.

Prompt diagnosis
04 · PROVE

Problem and fix

What is actually going wrong, and what to do about each one.

Eight problems come up in almost every account. None of them are solved by a mention count, and each one has a different answer.

The problem

You cannot tell whether you are in the answer at all

Someone checks ChatGPT once, gets an encouraging reply, and the team decides the channel is fine. Nobody knows what the other six platforms said, or what the same question returns tomorrow.

What AI Beacon does

The same questions, run on a schedule, everywhere

Your buyer questions run across seven platforms on a fixed rota, phrased the same way each time, so the result is a measurement rather than an anecdote.

A presence baseline on your first day, and a trend that means something by the second week.
The problem

You know you are absent. You do not know why.

A visibility score reports the outcome and says nothing about the cause. Four completely different problems produce the same low number, and each one needs a different fix.

What AI Beacon does

Every answer traced back to the sources that built it

Prompt diagnosis shows which pages fed the answer, which of yours was reached and passed over, and which of the four causes of absence applies here.

One specific page to write or repair, instead of an instruction to publish more.
The problem

An assistant describes you as something you are not

The description is warm, confident and wrong. It puts you at the wrong tier, in front of the wrong buyer, and it repeats across thousands of conversations until better evidence exists.

What AI Beacon does

The actual words recorded, platform by platform

Sentiment and narrative tracking stores the language used about you, the context surrounding the mention, and the places where platforms contradict each other.

You catch a mischaracterisation before a prospect quotes it back at you on a call.
The problem

A competitor is being recommended for your best question

An answer names a few brands and stops, so a rival gaining ground means somebody lost a seat. Your rankings for the same query never moved, so nothing raised a flag.

What AI Beacon does

Seat by seat, tracked over time

Competitor citation tracking records who holds each position on every question you follow, and marks the week a seat changed hands.

You find out while it is still cheap to reverse, rather than after lead volume drops.
The problem

You are named for definitions and absent from decisions

Coverage read as a single number hides the shape of the problem. Most brands look healthy on “what is this” and vanish on “which one should I buy”.

What AI Beacon does

Coverage split by what the buyer is actually asking

Prompt coverage maps every tracked question to an intent stage, from first awareness through to the comparison that settles a shortlist.

You know which stage to invest in, and which brief will actually move a decision.
The problem

Models cannot agree on which company you are

Before anything can be said about you, a model resolves your name to one real organisation. Get that wrong and every question afterwards is answered about somebody else.

What AI Beacon does

The entity each platform holds, compared side by side

Entity mapping shows the category, attributes and associations each model has settled on for you, and highlights where they disagree.

Identity gets fixed first, so the content work that follows lands on the right company.
The problem

Your ranking is unchanged and the clicks are falling

An AI Overview sits above every organic result, and Search Console reports one figure for the query. A click on the Overview and a click on your listing cannot be separated.

What AI Beacon does

Overview presence tracked apart from organic position

AI Overviews monitoring records which queries trigger one, whether you are cited inside it, and how that sits against the position you already hold.

You can explain the gap to a board, with the two things measured separately.
The problem

Finance asks whether any of this worked

The research happened inside a conversation that left no record. The visit arrives later and looks direct. Absence produces no signal at all.

What AI Beacon does

A baseline recorded before the work starts

Attribution connects citation change to referral sessions and branded search against that baseline, and states plainly which part of the effect cannot be counted.

You defend a budget line with observed numbers, and keep credibility by not inventing the rest.
The loop

See it. Diagnose it. Fix it. Measure it.

Finding the problem and fixing it are usually two products and two teams. Here they are one loop, and the loop closes where it started.

AI Beaconsees it AI Beaconexplains it Technical Suite · Content Studiofix it AI Beaconproves it moved
Step one · evidence

Every absence arrives with a reason attached

A score tells you the outcome. A trace tells you the cause. AI Beacon opens the answer, lists the sources behind it, and tests which of the four causes of absence applies here.

  • Cited sources separated from the ones used without credit
  • Your own page shown where it was reached and passed over
  • The cause named, so the work goes to the right team

Step two · the fix

The change gets shipped without leaving the platform

Most of what blocks a citation is a crawler rule, a piece of schema or a page that answers around the question instead of answering it. Technical Suite and Content Studio handle those inside SEORCE, so the finding and the fix are not two different tools.

  • Crawler and schema faults cleared with AutoFix
  • Briefs written against the question the engine actually asked
  • Entity records corrected before content is commissioned

Step three · proof

You find out whether it worked, in a number you can defend

The next run tells you whether the answer moved. Against a baseline recorded on day one, citation change sits next to referral sessions and branded search, and the part that cannot be counted is named rather than estimated.

  • Movement measured on the specific questions you chose to contest
  • Assistant referrals separated out in analytics
  • Influence with no click reported as influence, not as a figure

What to expect

Week one, month one, quarter one.

Nothing here needs a six-week onboarding. This is the honest shape of what arrives, and when.

01Week one

Where you actually stand

  • Presence across all seven platforms, for every question you chose to track
  • The competitors holding seats you assumed were yours
  • A first read on how each platform describes your business
  • Any crawl faults stopping assistants reading your pages at all
02Month one

Why, and what to do about it

  • A traced cause behind the absences that cost you the most
  • Coverage mapped by intent stage, so the priority is obvious
  • A shortlist of pages to write or repair, in order
  • Entity corrections filed against the records models actually read
03Quarter one

Whether the work paid

  • Citation change measured against the baseline you recorded on day one
  • Referral traffic from assistants separated out in analytics
  • Movement on the specific questions you chose to contest
  • A report finance can read without a translator

  • Show how visibility work translates into pipeline
  • Know what is being said before a prospect quotes it back at you
SEO and content

Gaps with a specific fix

  • See which missing content is costing citations, question by question
  • Prioritise by what would actually change an answer
  • Measure whether a published piece earned the citation it targeted
Founders

The research phase you cannot see

  • Buyers now shortlist through an assistant before visiting any website
  • In a new category, the description AI settles on becomes the category
  • Being absent early is far more expensive than being absent later

If your category has little AI search activity yet, this is not where to start. Keyword Intelligence or Content Studio will do more for you first.

What is AI Beacon?

AI Beacon is SEORCE's AI visibility engine. It monitors how seven AI platforms describe your brand, records which sources each answer cites, tracks where competitors are named instead of you, and identifies the content that would change those answers. It is the measurement layer for generative engine optimisation, which is the practice of earning presence inside AI-generated answers rather than inside a list of search results.

Key facts

  • Tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews
  • Records whether you are mentioned, and how you are characterised, with the surrounding context
  • Alerts when a competitor gains citations on queries you expected to own
  • Maps how each platform represents your brand as an entity, and where those representations disagree
  • Connects citation changes to organic traffic, so the work can be measured rather than assumed
  • AI answers typically draw on a handful of sources, so presence is far more concentrated than a page of search results

Common questions

Frequently asked about AI visibility.

Updated 10 September 2026
Do we need to install anything, or tag our site?+

No. Monitoring runs against the platforms themselves rather than against your website, so a domain and a brand name are enough to start. Connecting analytics is optional and only matters when you reach the attribution work.

How many questions should we track?+

Most teams start with somewhere between fifty and two hundred, chosen to cover all four intent stages rather than to be exhaustive. A small, well-chosen set that runs consistently is worth far more than a large one that runs occasionally.

Is this useful if we already have a mention tracker?+

It depends what you need next. If the question is whether your name appeared, a mention tracker answers it. If the question is why it did not, which source was cited instead, and what to change, that requires the trace behind the answer rather than the count in front of it.

How long before we see the answers change?+

Technical causes clear fastest, because once a crawler can read a page the material becomes available almost immediately. New content and entity corrections take longer, since models have to encounter the change and it has to appear consistently enough to be trusted. Expect weeks rather than days, and treat anyone promising same-week results with suspicion.

Which AI platforms does AI Beacon monitor?+

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews, tracked together rather than one at a time. Coverage follows where buyers actually research, so the list changes as usage does.

How is this different from checking ChatGPT myself?+

Asking once tells you what one model said, on one day, in one session, to one phrasing of the question. Answers vary between sessions and drift over weeks. Monitoring runs the same set of questions consistently across every platform, so a change means something rather than being noise.

How quickly does data appear?+

You see your first results once your brand and questions are connected, on the same day. Trends need longer, because a single answer is a data point and a shift in how you are described is only visible across repeated runs.

Can I track competitors as well as my own brand?+

Yes, and most teams find that the more useful half. Knowing a rival is being recommended for a question you expected to own is more actionable than knowing your own mention count moved.

Does AI visibility replace SEO?+

No. The same pages, the same crawlability and much of the same authority feed both. What changes is the shape of the outcome: a search result gives a reader ten options to choose from, while an answer names a few and moves on. That concentration is why presence matters more, not why the underlying work is different.

What can I actually do when an answer is wrong?+

You cannot edit an answer, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling something. What you can change is the material the answer is built from: the pages that exist, whether crawlers can read them, how clearly they answer the question, and how unambiguously your brand is identified. Prompt diagnosis exists to make that specific rather than a guess, and citation tracking tells you whether it worked.
