Em-Dash & AI Pattern Remover

One-click fix for the most common AI writing tells. Em-dashes, "not X, it's Y" constructions, "in today's fast-paced world" clichés, hollow conclusions, "moreover / furthermore" transitions. Pick the rules, apply, done.
Content Intelligence
The simplest humaniser: remove the five patterns LLMs produce by default.
You don't need to rewrite from scratch to make AI content read human. Remove em-dashes, swap "Moreover," for nothing, cut "In today's fast-paced world" entirely, and the writing reads more naturally straight away. This runs those edits in one pass with before/after diff.

Frequently asked questions
What is this tool for?
Removes em-dashes, "not X, Y" patterns, filler phrases, and other AI-writing tells from text. Pass pasted drafts through it before publishing.
Why do em-dashes stand out as an AI tell?
Models trained on literary and journalistic prose use them 4 to 5 times more often than average web writing. One or two per article is natural. One per paragraph is a tell.
What does it replace em-dashes with?
Context-sensitive: short clauses get commas, standalone insertions get parentheses, strong breaks get a period. The default rules work for most prose.
What is the "not X, Y" pattern?
A rhetorical pattern LLMs lean on: "This isn't about speed, it's about control." The tool rewrites to a direct declarative sentence.
Can I turn individual rules off?
Yes. Each of the 14 pattern rules has a toggle. Keep em-dash replacement but ignore the "not X, Y" rule if you use it stylistically.
Does it work on code or technical content?
The rules apply to prose. Code inside backticks is left alone. For heavily technical docs, review the diff before accepting changes.
Will the output pass GPTZero or Originality.ai?
Those detectors look at a mix of signals beyond the patterns this tool fixes. Fixing the mechanics helps but doesn't guarantee a "human" verdict.
Does this change my writing voice?
The tool removes mechanical patterns, not voice. If your draft has strong voice to begin with it survives. If the draft is bland, the tool just makes it marginally less obvious.
Does it work on long documents?
Yes, up to about 100,000 characters per pass. For book-length work, split by chapter.
What about British English?
Fully supported. The tool doesn't touch spelling, only punctuation and sentence structure patterns.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing uploaded, nothing stored.
