Email Blacklist Checker

Check an IP address or domain against 12 major email blacklists (DNSBLs). Being on even one can tank deliverability for Gmail and Outlook. Uses DNS-over-HTTPS: fast and private.
Email Deliverability Intelligence
Being on Spamhaus alone can block delivery to 70% of mailboxes.
Major providers (Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo) all check Spamhaus ZEN, Spamcop, Barracuda, SORBS. If your sending IP (or domain) gets listed, mail starts bouncing silently. This tool checks every major list in one go so you catch the listing before your customers do.
Input
For domain input, we resolve A records first and check each IP. For IP input, we check directly.
If you're listed
  1. Identify the cause. Compromised account? Open relay? Spam campaign gone wrong? Fix the root cause before requesting removal.
  2. Go to the specific blacklist's removal page. Each DNSBL has its own process. Spamhaus has a self-service form; Barracuda needs an email. Links in results above.
  3. Wait for propagation. Delisting takes 24-72 hours to be honoured by inbox providers.
  4. Monitor regularly. Re-check every week during warm-up to catch new listings early.

Prevent future listings with proper authentication
Correct SPF, DKIM, DMARC and consistent sending volume are the single best defence against future blacklisting.
Frequently asked questions
What is an email blacklist?
A DNS-based list of IPs or domains flagged for spam. Also called DNSBL or RBL. Mail receivers query these to filter inbound.
Which blacklists does the tool check?
12 major blacklists: Spamhaus (ZEN, DBL), SORBS, Barracuda, Spamcop, SURBL, URIBL, DEA, PSBL, and others.
How does the tool query blacklists?
DNS lookups via Cloudflare's DoH. No authentication required: DNSBLs are public DNS.
What does being blacklisted do to deliverability?
Varies by list. Spamhaus listing: emails rejected by most receivers. Lesser lists: increased spam folder placement.
How did my IP end up blacklisted?
Common causes: spam complaints from recipients, high bounce rates, suddenly sending from a cold IP, compromised account.
How do I get off a blacklist?
Each list has a delisting process. Spamhaus: fix the underlying issue (clean list, authentication), submit request at spamhaus.org.
Should I use a shared or dedicated IP?
High-volume senders (over 100k/month): dedicated. Smaller: shared is cheaper and reputation is managed by ESP.
What is a sender reputation score?
A per-domain and per-IP score inbox providers assign based on engagement, complaints, authentication. Google Postmaster Tools shows yours for Gmail.
How often should I check blacklists?
Weekly for high-volume senders. Monthly as hygiene for smaller.
Can my domain be blacklisted even if my IP is clean?
Yes. Spamhaus DBL and SURBL list domains independently from IPs.
What is a "warming" IP strategy?
Gradually ramping sending volume on a new IP so receivers build positive reputation. Avoids blanket spam flagging on cold IPs.
