Spam Trigger Word Checker

Scan your email subject and body for words that trip spam filters. Finds common Promotions-folder triggers, ALL CAPS abuse, and excessive punctuation. Three severity levels: not every match is fatal, but patterns stack up.
Email Marketing Intelligence
Modern spam filters are ML-based, not keyword-based: but these words still shift the score.
Gmail and Outlook moved past pure keyword matching years ago. But combinations of trigger words still correlate with Promotions-folder placement. Think of this as a lint check, not a verdict. One "free" won't tank you. "FREE!!!" plus "Act now" plus "100% guaranteed" probably will.

Spam words are only part of deliverability
SPF, DKIM, DMARC, authentication quality, and sender reputation all matter. Fix the deliverability basics first.
Frequently asked questions
What does this check?
Subject line + body for words and patterns known to trigger spam filters or Promotions-folder placement.
Will avoiding spam words guarantee inbox placement?
No. Modern filters use hundreds of signals. Word choice is one. Content-to-image ratio, sender reputation, authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) matter more.
What are the biggest spam triggers?
FREE in all caps, $$$, "act now", excessive exclamation marks, misleading subject vs body, lots of images with little text.
Does "free" always trigger spam filters?
No. Context matters. "Free trial" in a legit SaaS email is fine. "FREE!!! MONEY!!!" is not.
Does the tool catch Promotions tab triggers specifically?
Yes. Gmail's Promotions-tab heuristics differ from spam filters. The tool flags both.
What is sender reputation?
A score inbox providers assign to your sending domain + IP. Primary factor in deliverability. Build over months with consistent, engaged sending.
How to warm up a new sending domain?
Start low volume (hundreds a day), high engagement audience. Grow 50% per week. Monitor inbox placement with seed-list services.
Why do some promotional emails always go to inbox?
High engagement over time. Subscribers who open and click repeatedly train Gmail to put future messages in inbox.
Does unsubscribe link placement affect deliverability?
Yes. One-click unsubscribe (list-unsubscribe header) is required by Gmail + Yahoo for bulk senders.
What is image-to-text ratio?
Ratio of pixels covered by images vs characters of text. All-image emails read as spam. Aim for at least 300 characters of real text.
Should I use HTML tables for layout?
For email yes: most clients render HTML tables reliably. Avoid flexbox and grid; broken rendering in Outlook kills deliverability indirectly.
