Redirect Map Generator for Site Migrations
Paste or upload your old URLs and new URLs. The tool fuzzy-matches them, flags unmatched URLs, and generates a redirect map in htaccess, Nginx, Cloudflare Rules, or JSON format. All processing happens in your browser.
Technical SEO Intelligence
Migration mistakes compound. A full 1:1 redirect map prevents 50-80% of ranking loss.
Site migrations lose rankings for one reason above all others: incomplete redirect maps. Any old URL that returns 404 after launch leaks link equity and user trust. This tool matches old URLs to new URLs using slug similarity + path depth, highlights low-confidence matches for human review, and surfaces unmatched URLs you must handle manually.

Frequently asked questions
What is a redirect map?
A spreadsheet or list mapping every old URL on your site to its new destination. Essential before a site migration or restructure.
Should I use 301 or 302 redirects?
301 (permanent) for permanent moves. 302 (temporary) only when the destination will revert. Google treats long-standing 302s as 301s anyway.
What is a 307 redirect?
Temporary redirect that preserves the HTTP method (POST stays POST). Rarely needed in SEO; use 302 unless you have a specific reason.
Will redirects pass full link equity?
Google has confirmed 301 redirects pass full PageRank. Chains of redirects (301 and 301 and 301) lose some; keep them to one hop.
How many redirects can a site have?
No hard limit. Enterprise sites often maintain tens of thousands. Performance degrades if the server evaluates them one by one: use CDN edge rules.
What should I do with retired product pages?
Redirect to the nearest live equivalent (parent category or similar product). Only use 410 Gone if there is no equivalent and the URL should be fully removed from the index.
Should I redirect to the homepage?
As a last resort. Soft-404 risk: Google may treat a flood of homepage redirects as "page not found".
How long should I keep redirects live?
Minimum one year. Enterprise rule of thumb: never remove a working redirect without checking if it still receives traffic.
Does Google recrawl all old URLs after migration?
Submit the old sitemap and the new one, both verified in Search Console. Google will walk the old URLs and discover the redirects over weeks.
Can I redirect across domains?
Yes. Cross-domain 301s pass equity. Add both domains to Search Console and submit a change-of-address request if you're migrating the whole site.
What is a redirect loop?
A and B and A. Breaks pages. The redirect-chain-checker tool on this site flags loops.
