Keyword Density Analyzer
Paste any article and see 1-word, 2-word, and 3-word keyword frequency. Compare against a target keyword density. Spot over-optimisation (above 3-4% is usually a red flag) and missed topics.
Content Intelligence
Density matters less than it used to: but outliers still signal problems.
Google doesn't rank on raw keyword density. But unusual density patterns still signal issues: a target keyword appearing 0 times means the page isn't on topic, 10%+ means it looks spammy. The real value is in 2-word and 3-word phrases, which show the semantic territory the page covers.

Density is a diagnostic, not a target
Modern SEO ranks on topical coverage, not keyword stuffing. Use the Content Brief Generator to find topics competitors cover that you don't.
Frequently asked questions
What is keyword density?
The percentage of a document made up of a given keyword or phrase. Historically used for SEO; now mostly a diagnostic rather than a target.
What density is "optimal"?
There is no magic number. 0.5% to 2% for primary terms is common. Over 3% starts looking like keyword stuffing.
Does Google count exact-match density?
Google uses TF-IDF and now semantic matching. Exact-match density matters less than topical coverage.
What is n-gram analysis?
Counting phrases of N words (1-gram = single word, 2-gram = pair, 3-gram = triplet). More useful than single-word density.
What are stop words?
Common words (the, a, is, and) usually filtered out. The tool excludes them from density calculations.
Can I use this for ad copy?
Yes but short ad copy makes density calculations unstable. Use the Ad Preview tool for ad-specific analysis.
How does the tool handle plurals?
By default, counts exact tokens. Enable "stem to root" to combine "SEO" and "SEOs" into one count.
What is TF-IDF?
Term Frequency × Inverse Document Frequency. A statistical weight comparing a term's frequency in your document to its frequency across a corpus. More sophisticated than raw density.
Should I write to hit a density target?
No. Write naturally. Use the tool afterwards to check that key terms appear enough and nothing is stuffed.
How many words should I analyse?
Full page content. Minimum 300 words for meaningful density. For single-page analysis, exclude nav and footer.
Can keyword stuffing hurt rankings?
Yes. Google's algorithms detect and demote it. Natural writing beats target density every time.
